blog 1

Advance 3d blog 1
For advanced 3d we were given a task of working from a concept which could be either a character or an environment. I chose a character due to the fact I would be able to rig it as it would be closer to the job role I want which is being a 3d rigger in either the game or animation industry. I decided to do a character from the “Yugioh gx” series as I have been a fan and like the style of the “Elemental hero Neos” series, which are all based on the Japanese ultra-series.

To start off with I created a mood board collecting images

Not all of these are from the series but they shows the style I am going for
In the end I chose this one

The reason I picked this was because it stands out and has a good use of colours as it is “Elemental hero Neos” in its most powerful form. I decided to collect more images using episode 178 of “Yugioh GX” from which the character appears.

Another reason why I picked this character was because of its wings and muscular build and it would be a better, more interesting and technically challenging character to rig. Another part of the assignment was to place it into a diorama which I will discuss in a later blog.
What I learned
I learned that in order to improve your chances of getting the job you want you need to show you have other skills such as modelling as it would be handy to rig. I also saw how important it is to model from a concept as in the industry you would need to work from a concept. I planned to learn from this module and to improve my skills so I can rig characters from my portfolio and show reels which will always need to be updated.
